While I was showering today I found myself singing the theme to Flashdance. Oh, don’t act like you don’t know it; come on, sing it with me now:
“What a feelin’, beings believing / I can’t have it all, now I’m dancing for my life! / Take your passion, and make it happen / Pictures come alive, you can dance right through your life”
Why, you may rightfully ask, was I singing that song? Well, I’ll tell you: We just bought the new album by The Dan Band and that’s one of the songs they cover. Wait”¦you thought I was singing the Irene Cara version? Heck no! I’m a man dammit, and I can only sing along with a male singer. And that’s why I’m digging the new album by The Dan Band so much. They only cover songs by female artists. So now I can sing along to “Shoop,” or “Genie in a Bottle,” and not feel insecure.
Maybe you’ve seen the Dan Band in the movie Old School. If not, then you need to go here immediately, and watch one of the funniest scenes from that movie (give it a second to load, it’s worth it). Watch Will Ferrell’s face when Dan swears for the first time while singing “Total Eclipse of the Heart.” Good Stuff.
