The Worst Novel Ever….well, besides Bridges of Madison County

I am amazed by this story. Apparently some science fiction and fantasy writers were annoyed with some comments made a publisher by the name of PublishAmerica. Never heard of them? Neither had I, and there is a very good reason why we hadn’t heard of them. Anyway these supposedly well-known writers (I’m still trying to find out if I know of any of them) decided to write the worst book ever, and they did. They titled it Atlanta Nights, and they submitted it to PublishAmerica. It was accepted, which apparently proves PublishAmerica will publish whatever pile of crap is submitted. You have to see this book. Go to the first link above (not the PublishAmerica site) and click on the manuscript. It is some of the funniest stuff I have ever read. How someone could have accepted this is beyond me. Oh, yeah, the fake name they submitted it under was “Travis Tea.” Say it out loud.

    Thanks for the laugh,

  2. As far as I can tell it’s real. PublishAmerica has since said they made a mistake and aren’t going to publish it. Apparently this publisher has gotten a real bad name on the internet. I think I remember reading they are involved in several lawsuits where they are accused of defrauding several people. The “novel” is hilarious, though. I’ve never really read anything that came out of a vanity publisher. Kinda makes me wanna seek some out. Could be good for more laughs. Can you imagine a reading using Atlanta Nights? Buncha people sitting around sipping coffee acting as if its the best thing they’ve ever heard?
